10 Reasons to Love Ireland

Being that it is St. Patrick's Day and all

I couldn't resist sharing some of the reasons I fell in love
with
Ireland

1. Country lanes lined in stone walls

Plenty of these roads where you can find yourself virtually alone

2. Castles and forts

Charles Fort in Kinsale ... in the past, it was Britain's largest star shaped fort

3. Wild, windy cliffs of Dingle and Galway

I may be smiling but it was frickin windy up there!

4.  Green grass with all its various hues

Cattle and sheep dot the lush valleys and hills

 5. Irish pubs

Filled with music, Irish whiskey and all kinds of characters with a story.

6.  Guinness

Did you know that 5.5 million pints are consumed around the world.  But on St. Patty's Day?
That number more than doubles to 13 million pints!

7.  Music

Irish seem born with a love of music and at some point, all join in to sing

8.  Literature

Greats such as James Joyce, Samuel Beckett and Oscar Wilde. Photo of Trinity College.

9.  Redheads and freckles

Lest you doubt my Irish heritage of red hair and freckles, here with lovely lady in Dingle

10.  Villages filled with people
of tenacity & endurance,
passionate & poetic
for their homeland

May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

Hope you have a Lucky Irish Day!
