Maine reflections, part one ....

Hi friends!

I wanted to poke my head in and say hello.  Our time is coming to an end up here in Maine.  We've explored a lot of towns and coves and docks, ate a lot of lobsta and took in some beautiful views.  I thought I'd share some of them with you today before The Professor yanks me off my computer.

Here goes .....

Portland ... we spent our first night here.  A lively, sophisticated harbor town with lots of good restaurants and shops.  We walked a few streets, had a great dinner at Street & Co. and left the next day northward for Belfast.

Falmouth & Yarmouth area, north of Portland .... we explored these little towns and coves on our way to Belfast.  There were many pretty places along this drive.  I would have liked to have joined this person as he enjoyed the afternoon.

Belfast ... we spent two nights here.  A funky little town with a mix of boutiques, old movie house and a cool co-op grocery store.

A very laid back town with its main street tumbling down to the wharf.  We were told that it is still a town being discovered as more and more folks open businesses and build beautiful water front homes along its coast.  The house with the porch on my previous post was one of those homes.

We found the town quite charming and relaxing.

And of course, I had to get my bird fix and include a picture.  Thank you for indulging me!

While in Belfast, we dined both nights, picnic table style, at Young's Lobster Pound, which sits across the bay.

For us, it was the best restaurant view in town!

Both evenings we had incredible sunsets like the one above.  This was a lobster boat bringing in his haul for the day.  We enjoyed watching him unload.  We love this type of free entertainment!

Bayside ... As we left Belfast we swung by Bayside on our way to Camden.  It was a beautiful harbor with a community of summer vacation homes and small cottages.

It seemed a perfect place for families to spend a vacation.  We enjoyed watching these boys as they attempted to catch something in the water.  See, doesn't take much to entertain us!

The bay water here was so calm that it provided some great water reflections.  The above photo and the one below are SOOC.

After exploring this little community of Bayside, we continued our trek down to Camden.

More of that in my next post!

Miss you guys and look forward to catching up with all of you soon!
