Feathered and flogged

When I arrived home the other day, I was not entirely greeted with open arms from my backyard feathered friends.

Bobbie Bluejay:  We all know about your little adventure down in Florida.  All that blah blah blogging.  Being all ga ga over those Florida birds.  You know .....  us Pennsylvania birds are pretty special too.

Catbird Cate:  That's right ... we have some special talents, you know.  Can any of them mew like a cat?

Ronnie Red-bellied Woodpecker:  Or any of them have a Don Trump flowing red mane like mine?

Fred Finch:  Forget his flowing mane ... look at my brilliance!  Can those Florida birds match my cheerfulness?  They all look mean and grumpy to me.

Pope Cardinal Jr:  Finch, you got nothin' on me ...  in a few months, my cheery redness is going to blow you out of the birdcage!

Tommy Titmouse:   And how about feet?  Got any Florida goofballs who can top these blue-grey lovelies?

Deary Dove:  Or even my pink-red tootsies?

Freddie Finch:  They all got nothing on me ... look at my sunshine brilliance.  Even in that Florida sunshine, betcha you didn't see anything like this on those Florida birds!

Harriet Hairy Woodpecker:   Also, do your Florida birds make sure your trees are bug safe?  I don't tthhiinnkkkkkkk so ... all they do is eat fish all day long.

Conner Crow:  I'd challenge any of those Florida beach birds to an intelligence test ... I'd beat 'em every time!

Stanley Starling:  And look at this ... look ... is that not the most gorgeous wing you've ever seen?

Young Stella Starling:  Oh, quit showing off!

Hilly Hummingbird:  I guess I'm just really disappointed that you seem to prefer those boring beach birds to all of us  .....

Hilly Hummingbird:  .... I mean .... I came and sat in your hand!  In your hand!  Doesn't that count for anything?   Did any of those Florida yahoos do that?

Carmen Chipmunk:  Oh, House Lady ....  I think you have a lot of making up to do!

Moral of the Story:  Be careful what you blog about, you never know who reads it.

A flasher at the beach ... warning: R rated!

Yesterday afternoon, The Professor and I decided to take a stroll.  We saw this path toward the beach and it looked so lovely, we decided to explore and see where it came out.

Beautiful, isn't it?

Well, imagine my surprise as we approached the end when we were suddenly accosted with this!

a flasher!

The Professor quickly shielded my innocent eyes as the offending culprit suddenly dashed away.

Shaken and distressed, we went to the local Animal Shelter to report the offensive act of exposure.

The next day, the authorities called us and asked if we could meet them on the beach to identify a possible suspect.

The bird being questioned was indignant at the accusation.

Nevertheless, they had him pose to the right .......

and then to the left.

But he refused to spread his wings asserting that he wasn't that kind of a bird.

Besides, he stated, a crowd had gathered and there were women and children in the audience.

Although he looked very similar to the offender, we just were not confident enough for an arrest and he was free to go, mumbling how us beach goers think all herons look alike.

Later that night, we returned to the beach for our nightly ritual.  As the sun set in the west, we knew that justice had not prevailed, the culprit was lurking somewhere in the shadows, ready to strike again.

P.S.  And if you REALLY thought I would post something R rated ...
well,
I'm just not that kind of girl.

A backyard troublemaker ....

Rocky Squirrel:  I'm so tired of eating bird left overs!  All you birds do is toss down the stuff ya don't want.

Pigeon Pearl:  Well, the nerve.  Did you hear him, Pauly?
Pigeon Pauly:  I heard 'em Pearl ... hey Squirrel .. what makes you feel so superior?  If it's good enough for us to eat the throw offs, it's good enough for you.

Downy Woodpecker Wanda:  Oh, oh, oh, no fight, no fight ..... why can't we just all get along?

Pope Cardinal:  Squirrel!  Did you hear that ... you are upsetting everyone!  Now take your place and join us down here.

Rocky Squirrel:  No way ... I'm going up for the good stuff!

Young Robin Rita:  Oh, I don't think the house lady is going to like this!

Rocky Squirrel:  Who cares!  It's her own fault anyway ...  if she would just leave us some corn or peanuts out, this wouldn't be happening!

Rocky Squirrel:  Glad I did my stretches this morning.

Ricky Squirrel:  Yo, Rocky ... look over here ....

Ricky Squirrel:  Why don't you come over and join me ... this is so much easier, man ... I'm tellin' ya!

Rocky Squirrel:  No!  I want the food in here, darn it!

Rocky Squirrel:  Why can't I get in!  Maybe if I chew on the wire a little bit ...

Rocky Squirrel:  Ouch!  What is this stuff made of .... I 'bout broke a tooth!

Rocky Squirrel:  Okay ... I'm going over to the other one ....
Ground Crew:  Whoa.... Squirrel .... cover it up!

Rocky Squirrel:  Yeh, yeh, yeh .... well, now you know why they call me ROCKY.

Young Cowbird Carla:  Papa, what's he doing now???
Cowbird Carl:  Oh for goodness sakes, Squirrel ... give it up!

Rocky Squirrel:  What's with this flip floppy thing ....

Rocky Squirrel:  Oh for pete's sake ....

Randy Squirrel:  I told ya, bro .... stick with me ....

Carmen Chipmunk:  ~giggle~ ~giggle~ ~giggle~  Yeh, there's lots of good stuff here!

Fannie Finch: Hahahahahahahahah, it's food for birds, you fool squirrel!

Randy Squirrel:  Come on, bro ... we don't need this abuse ... let's go over to the other house lady's place ... I've buried some good stuff over there. Some real good stuff!
Rocky Squirrel:  Yah!  Do you all hear that!  Good stuff and we're not SHARING!

Theo Thumper:  Uh...uh ...uh .... what ya got fellas?

Mrs. Pope Cardinal:  Theo, I think it best you stay here ... those boys are nothin' but trouble.  So says the Pope, and he is all knowing!

(Me:  Although they think they have HIDDEN food at the other house lady's place, FOOD that I had given them ... well, I have the goods on them.  Another story for another day!)
