long forgotten
you rest among
the pines and birches
where echos of our laughter
once filled your belly
now
it is only the wind
that plays through
your shattered shell
while crackling leaves
rustle along
the loon's melody
playfully floats
over the rocky shore
and i remember
oh yes, i remember
your grace and beauty
before the seedlings
deposited their blossoms
in your eves
and the earth buckled
beneath your weight
you were
and still are
my sole witness
of
our
love
