long forgotten
you rest among
the pines and birches
where echos of our laughter
once filled your belly
now
it is only the wind
that plays through
your shattered shell
while crackling leaves
rustle along
the loon's melody
playfully floats
over the rocky shore
and i remember
oh yes, i remember
your grace and beauty
before the seedlings
deposited their blossoms
in your eves
and the earth buckled
beneath your weight
you were
and still are
my sole witness
of
our
love

oh, that was full of ache...
Lovely! I make up stories in my head when I see abandoned houses and barns -- but they don't translate from my brain to my fingers/keys nearly so beautifully. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely poem and photo. You do have a wonderful way with words. Have a great week!
There are some old decrepit houses that just ache to have their story listened to and recorded. You have done that beautifully.
Hi renna ..wonderful words that say so much in verse...Lovely image to!
Grace

Lovely! How walls do bear witness!
such beautiful melancholy,
the stories that live
within those walls;
thanks for the image
that lets them whisper
their sweetness again.

I'm always so saddened to see these old abandoned houses. Stirring capture and prose, Reena.
Delicate words, I traveled in this tenderness and love, where nature reigns.

Poetic poety. What a way with words you have. That scene is both eerie and facinating. Reminds me of a house in an old movie I saw with a friend. Can't remember, but will find out for you. Cheers reena!!
