Oh Perigee Moon

Perigee Moon, courtesy of weathersnob.org

oh perigee moon
the last time
 your swollen orb and beauty
appeared
this close to my heart
was march of '93
on the gulf of mexico's
white sand beaches

small and alone
below the surface
of your brilliance
with a melancholy ache
waiting
for some thing
or
someone

oh perigee moon
hello again
so many years later

do you still recognize me
perhaps not

but if you peer a bit closer
just below the surface
beyond the obvious

my heart sings
of love
in your morning light
of
tomorrow
