An afternoon walk

It was such a beautiful Maine day yesterday, I took a break and went out to the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse.  I've always seen it from a distance when in Rockland, looking like a house floating out in the sea.  I thought what a great photo opportunity!  And I wasn't disappointed!

It was a bit of a hike out to the lighthouse.  The 732,000+ tons of granite stretches over 4,300 feet, taking 18 years to complete back in 1899.

A bit windy and rugged walk ... but it was definitely well worth it!

Only thing that would have made it better
would have been a glass of wine with those views!

Added to my viewing pleasure was a lobster boat checking his traps with seagulls tailgating his every move.  I love watching their antics.

There was a whole rhythm to the process.  The lobster boat motors to each buoy and pulls it up.

Removes whatever they have caught and replace the bait throwing the old bait into the water.

And that's when all the flurry begins!

One lucky seagull will grab his prize

and take off to the nearest boulder

only to be harassed endlessly by others trying to steal his hard fought reward.

The only solution is to quickly grab the discarded fish head

and fly away to a more peaceful place to dine.

Of course, there is always that ONE who just won't quit!

Hope you're having a great day and no harassing seagulls are on your tail!
Later, my friends,
