The Osprey Cry

The ospreys' cries have ceased

their empty platform nest
of twigs, driftwood
and seaweed
rises from the water

in solitude

all that remains
of their Maine
summer

fall seems imminent
as she slowly
steals in
silencing the osprey cry

once again
