Forget not

Each evening, a handful of folks come to the water's edge to celebrate
the day's end as the sun slips away into the sea.

Cameras flash to capture the setting sun.
Lovers walk hand in hand.
Friends sit in silence.

Once the sunset is over, the beach becomes deserted.
Only the gulls and us remain.

Hundreds of Royal Terns showing off.
Dancing and darting around us
in their courtship feeding
during the evening hours.

Time stands still.

Forget not
that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long
to play with your hair.
