The Professor and I will be crossing the Atlantic as you read this.
Heading home ... sweet home.
The last couple of days we spent time up in the
Douro Valley in Pinhao.
Hillsides filled with nothing but vineyards.
And maybe an abandoned stone house here and there.
Pinhao was a bit nothing of a town. But tucked in its hillsides are what most
of us tourists come here for ... their port wine.
The inn that we stayed at, The Vintage House, was remarkably beautiful, with rooms overlooking the Douro River.
And a much better internet connection!!!!
sigh
Here's a picture of the backside of The Professor, ahead of me
in one of the alleys.
I kind of like his backside!
As much fun as it is to travel,
there is always the excitement of returning home.
To familiar things ...
like my morning coffee and newspaper,
finches at the feeders,
my own comfy bed and
kitty kitty
who will take days to warm back up to me
for leaving him so long.
Looking forward to catching up with all of YOU,

Oh, I just love the photos, Reena! It must have been difficult to leave such a beautiful place, but I know what you mean about coming home after a trip. :)
What a lovely place to stay! And that last photo took my breath away!
Welcome Home!
oh, i'd be happy to be home too. (even with a grumpy cat who will almost grace you with his presence...)
so, after all your wine imbibing, do you need a drying out period?! ha!
Lovely .. I enjoyed this trip .. and I think you, I and Kate (over at CountryGirl) have a lot of pix of the respective 'back of my husband' shots. We should do a book... or set up a blog where everyone posts a shot of the back of their spouse/significant other ..
Lovely photos. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip. Be safe!
Your photos are so crisp and colourful. Just beautiful. Safe travels home!
Beautiful scenery, but I absolutely undeniably LOVE that lighthouse shot! WoW! LOOOOVE it! =)

i still can't believe, in a nothing town, how beautiful it looks there.....
Are you home yet? I hope so! Gorgeous photos - for a nothing of a town, it's lovely!
You must be warm with your memories of port wine (tawny, I hope), that beautiful inn, wandering among villages and vineyards, and cozying into home again. It looks like a lovely trip, I'm very happy for you. I hope you feel inspired by it.
Your photos are stunning.
