Nightfall

Nightfall

you come
in evenings
as day folds upon itself

shimmering miles of sea
beckon

me

to float away
on whispering winds

pushing me
ever so further away
from the day’s
inevitable demise

as sky turns into fire
the seagulls lift
their wings
into your arms

rising and fading
into darkness

no longer
able to stay

and yet

i wait
your arrival

my heart pounding

That's a Pina Colata Sky! You describe night's descending curtain so well. I see you're from Philly. I was born and raised my family in Lancaster County, PA - though I've lived in CO since 1989.
