Anyway, here we are and as I have mentioned, my internet access is very limited. The hotels over here charge $25 euro a day! Think how many bottles of wine I could buy instead. So, my visits to you will be very limited this week but promise to catch up on my return. In the meantime, I'd love to show you the Amsterdam I've come to know. It's a beautiful city, youthful, vibrant and unpretentious ... which suits me just fine.
Here's a view from our room .. nothing exciting but I do love watching the action below.
Of course, you knew there would be bikes. Right? Everywhere there are bikes ...
and bridges ...
and canals ...
and bikers ...
and more bikers with children ...
and rowers ...
and night life ...
that seems to go on all night.
Of course, no post by me would be complete without some sort of critter in it. This kitty simply ignored us as it waited for its human to let him in.
And this fellow seemed to be quite content in his window of bowties.
I'll wrap up this post with this little guy as he waited in his basket while his human was shopping in a small grocery store near our hotel. Again, he had no time for me.
Thanks for dropping in and taking a peak at Amsterdam. It is really a cool city.
Stay tuned for more!

Everyone in Amsterdam must be healthy and fit with all that biking and rowing .. love these shots .. hope the trip is filled with photo ops and good wine
OH, these are fabulous. Will I ever be able to travel one day? Sigh... I am REALLY looking forward to your photos and descriptions... this city just intrigues me!
Looks like the trip is off to a good start. No need to worry about the snow, we'll make sure it's cleaned up before you get back.
The bike photo is classic HDR, very nice.
Oh, such great photos. I am so OVER travelling in my life, but I do wish I could transport to places like this for some photos, then quickly transport back home without the long flights.
Oh, your photos are fantastic, Reena! They brought back so many wonderful memories of my visit to Amsterdam years ago! And, of course, I love the critters!! So cute! Hope you have a terrific visit! Enjoy!
Sylvia
it looks lovely and sounds like you are having an amazing time!!
you must be exhausted!!
the view from your room is totally exciting to me, as are all these photos. i have never seen and never will these types of streets and buildings. only in the movies. stunning shots of all of it and thanks for the view
What a beautiful and interesting city. I can't wait until you get back and can tell us all about it. That first cat was so cute. If it were a horse, we would call it a Medicine Hat -- one that is practically all white, except for a patch of color covering the ears and the top of the head.
Beautiful picures. Made me miss Europe some more :) I always wondered how do they recognize and find their bike when it's time to go....
Enjoy your trip!
wow I love how you have processed these and everything looks so interesting and colourful, what great shots, hope you are enjoying your trip.
Looks like a great place to visit, loving the pics.
Hi, just go to a public library or the restaurant on the 5 th floor of the bijenkorf departmentstore on the dam near the royal palace and your internet on wifi is for free. One library in the vicinity of your hotel is on the corner of the roelof hart street and roelof hart square.
I wonder how different our
raging health issues would be
in this country
if we all bustled about
on bikes instead
of motoring everywhere.
Seems like a happy dream there.
Love it!
Inspired I am,
Jen
Brilliant views, especially the bikes, you can't miss them. It is that don't have any hills.........
I enjoyed the tour of Amsterdam through your lens.
As always GREAT pictures. In that photo with all the bikes.... can you imagine if your bike was in the center of all those and you needed it in a hurry? Yikes!
Oh you make me want to travel!
Looks like such a charming way of life! I love all the bikes and boats and critters. Know you are having a delightful time.
Wonderful photos of such a vibrant city.
You really have captured the mood of the city with these photos :-)
These are gorgeous Reena! It looks like you colored them with magic pencils. Glad you are having a grand time. Margie
Great shots! It's so cool to be in Amsterdam. I hate when the sky get funky gray in HDR, that happens to mine also.
Lovely, funky Amsterdam! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful photos, Reena.
Snow on Halloween is no fun at all...
What great photos...now I am itching to go traveling, guess the virtual trip will have to do for now.
Wow, what great pictures, I'm glad you have found conveient internet service so you can share these. Thanks, it's like getting away myself.
You have seen a lot allready of Amsterdam. Nice photo's. Internet is in many places in Amsterdam for free, and not that expensive in the hotel! Ridiculous they dare to ask so much money for it. There is a huge public library near the Central Station, to the right, with free wifi and when you go up to the top floor you have a beautiful view over Amsterdam and can have a drink and something to eat as well. Have a nice time!
Wonderful images of a favourite place of mine...
Looking forward to seeing more.
Enjoy your stay.
Love the bikes and the canals and the bikes!!! There are so many bikes - how do they know whose is whose? Your view is gorgeous Reena!
Reena, great shots, i like it very much, thanks for sharing this beautiful city with us!!

What a wonderful place for a photographer! Love that kitty in the window:)
Lovely Reena. Haven't been there for many years and it is nice to see that it has not changed. Great pictures.
wonderful shots. so many wonderful things there to take pictures of.
Love the dog in the basket. I can't believe he stayed there.
Love that you share your photos since I am not a travelling gal. They must have great air to breathe there considering so many use clean modes of transportation.
Great shots. Looks like a beautiful place.
What a beautiful place - and your photos are so vibrant! Thanks for sharing and have fun!
Great view from your window, and fabulous photographs. I've been to Amsterdam twice, and it is the type of place that never leaves your heart!
Maureen
These are all such amazing shots.. I just love seeing the kitty's. I have never been to Amsterdam.. I would love to go some day!! Enjoy my friend..

Awesome set of images Reena!!! Well done!
What a fun collection of images. I love that clutter of bicycles. Keep on having fun.. and posting about it.
reena!!! what a bunch of photos you have here, one nicer than the next. looking forward to a real slew of them when you get home.
All of these pictures are great!! I love the first one, the canal, the little dog in his basket, what a wonderful diversity of Amsterdam life you have shown!!!! But I did not know that Amsterdam is youthful!
Having the nicest, vicarious trip!
All of these are terrific. Strangely enough, I think I love that first one the most simply because there's so much going on, so many colors & levels, and the viewpoint is perfect (I don't like crowds but do love to watch 'em).
Love the photo of the first cat -- he/she is decked out in Halloween colors all the way. :)
Fabulous scenes! Love the cats and the dog!
What a great place! Thanks for the photo tour. Awesome photos!!!
I love that white cat with the orange and black ears.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Was all she had to say. Cheers reena!!
Ah, Amsterdam looks so cozy on your photos. And the internet... it is good not to have it for a change, I am sure you will feel refreshed! Just enjoy Europe!
