While I was away ...

 I'm baaack!

As I blow the dust off my keyboard and take a look out my window, I can't believe how spring has suddenly burst forth.  For the past 11 days, I have been consumed with a DIY project (which I'll share in the next few days) that is now almost complete.  Complete enough that I can come up for air and join all of you again.

I have MISSED you!

I feel I have even missed Spring's opening!

Our tulip tree is in full bloom and so pretty.

And I almost missed capturing it!

I have also missed my backyard feathered friends.

I love seeing the Goldfinches begin turning their bright yellows again
in preparation for spring courting.

Speaking of courting,
that reminds me of 'court' which reminds me that I have
been summoned for jury duty Thursday.
First time.
I have no idea what to expect but sure am hoping I'm not needed.

The Professor suggests that I wear a T-shirt that says
"Fry the bastards!"

Think that will get me off?

Seriously, we both understand that democracy depends
on involved and informed citizens.
So I guess jury duty is a small price to pay for that.

As long as they let me bring my laptop!

ha ha. good luck with the jury duty! i've been called several times in 3 different counties and have only made it to a panel - never onto a jury. (knocking on wood to continue the streak...)

love your spotty goldfinch fellow!

I served on Grand Jury for a term several years ago....depressing because most of the cases were sex abuse or child abuse. However, it was truly interesting. As for missing...I've missed you! I'm curious as to your project, now. Is the tulip tree also a magnolia? Although I've seen only one in this part of Oregon, I've always referred to them as 'tulip.' Whatever they are called, they are absolutely beautiful! Welcome back!

Good luck with the jury duty. I have been called 3 times, but got out of it due to financial responsibilities. Love the little Goldfinch.

Never fear, you can take your laptop--there is a lot of sitting around.

Well, let's just hope the jury isn't sequestered! LOVE your spring springing pictures. And hey, I have been taking scads of pictures of what I THOUGHT were magnolia trees, now I think they are tulip trees!

what is the bird with red?

jury duty can be a frustratingly fabulous experience...as you say, democracy at work.

Lovely shots, Reena. Good luck with the jury duty. I got called as a juror about 12 years ago. The case lasted two weeks then ended abruptly when a fight broke out between them. It. Was. Not. Fun.

I got called on 30 some years ago. It was something I said or answer I gave during the interview that they dismissed me and I haven't ever heard from then again since. Now if I only knew what it was I said. I like those little finches but they sure do go through the thistle fast; the little flying piggies I call them.

I want a T-shirt like that!! And, hey, it just might get you off!! Terrific captures of spring for the day. We have some beautiful pink trees blooming, but they're not tulip trees, not sure what these are, but they're delightful. It is so wonderful to see the colors and the leaves popping out everywhere here in spite of our gloomy weather.
Good luck with the jury duty!

Your tulip tree is spectacular.

Good luck with jury duty or not!
I rec'd my first summons 33 years ago. I was to show up the week of my 30 b-day (early January). Little did I know here in our county the first week of Jan and the first week of July new Grand Jury members are selected from that week's jury pool. Lucky me I was selected had to serve every other Monday for a year!! Happy birthday to me. LOL

Love the photos. So glad I found you. Your pictures inspire me to grab my camera and get out of the house.

Hahaha! You cracked me up with that t-shirt idea! I'm sure it would get you off. I went a few years ago and it was not bad at all. I enjoyed a week off from work doing something different. Oh and we did not fry our guy, he was let go for not enough evidence :)

Not to unmercifully pimp myself out, but I do believe I've written one of the best tales about jury duty (mostly because it was such a damn circus of a trial.) It might help you get an idea of what to expect.

You, I would take The Professor's suggestion. That oughta work very nicely! :-)

Triumphant return to normal, Reena! Love these shots!

Gorgeous blossom photos!

The only time I participated in jury duty I spent two days in a waiting room on a hard chair...my recommendation would be to bring a cushion!

Good day to you my friend. I needed to give you a quick note to express my thanks. I've been studying your blog for a month or so and have picked up quite a lot of good info as well as enjoyed the way in which you've setup your blog. I am attempting to setup my own blog but I feel it is too general. I want to focus more on specific topics. Being all things to all folks isn't all that it’s cracked up to be. Many thanks.
