Over the weekend, we headed out of town and trained south to visit family. It's always fun to catch up with these folks. We have a great time laughing, kidding, teasing, drinking wine and reminiscing. Which ... leaves little time for blogging (which you may have noticed). But then ... that wouldn't matter, because they live so deep in the woods, the internet connection is like the early days of dial up.
Gah!
Best to just not even try to log on and instead, pour another glass of wine and enjoy great company. Of course, other great company I enjoy are their doggies. They watch us with intense scrutiny. Probably thinking what a strange breed we are!
This is Daisy.
She is the sweetest, gentlest dog. She was rescued after some cruel idiot tied her down by the river with the expectation of drowning her.
What is wrong with people?
And then there is Sweetie Pie.
So regal and refined.
Always on alert for a game of tug-of-war.
And last, but certainly not least, is Rusty.
Very small but oh, so mighty!
Her favorite spot is to be wrapped up in someone's arms.
How could you possibly not swoop down and pick her up with a face like this???
Makes your heart melt!

It was a great visit but when I returned home, I was greeted by a grumpy Rocky Squirrel.
Rocky Squirrel (a bit snarly): "You don't plan to have those dogs visit here, do you? Cause it's either them or us ... we're not sharing yard space!"
Me: Calm down Rocky. Those pups have no desire to visit. They are quite happy in their own home observing your cousins in their backyard.
Rocky Squirrel: Well, that's good to know. Moving is such a pain in the ass. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find good housing this late in the year. Nearly impossible! Feels like snow is just around the corner. Not too eager for that, I can tell ya!
Me: Yep, does feel like it may be arriving soon ... and I'm not looking forward to it either. So, are we good?
Rocky Squirrel: We're good.

(I'm still trying to figure out how in the hell he knew about those dogs. I guess word travels fast among the squirrel community. Who knew?!)

Sounds like a great trip! All the dogs are cute, but Rusty takes the cake.
I like that train station!
I guess it's hard to sneak away for the weekend without someone being upset:-)
Ha ha! Love your "squirrely" dialogues! Beautiful portraits of the dogs, too....and that train station------lovely!
Oh I really love the squirrel image....all very nice Reena!!
You are a hoot. Love the puppy shots (of course.) That little one stole my heart. :)
Dat squirlz got some big paws.
Dogs are beautiful.
Aren't those visits with friends something special? I've had a couple of those this past week with friends and they were fabulous.
What beautiful dogs!!! Rusty actually looks like a little stuffed animal!! How funny to cut back to the squirrel at the end!!!
the squirrels around here are nuts. they gang up on you. make odd noises. those tails are crazy. i really don't like them. when they come up to me for food or at least look at me ... saying please feed me ... i run very quickly away. no feeding the animals around here. only birds thank you very much. (:
LOL. Love Rocky! :)

Great images. Rusty is a cute fellow. :) Is he smiling on the last image? :)
I'll bet little terrier Rusty could give Rocky the squirrel a run for his money!
Glad you had such a relaxing weekend!
Oh, those dogs are adorable!
Those dogs looked awesome. So....calm, well, maybe not the little guy.
What beautiful dogs to visit.
The greatest friends anyone could wish for.
Lovely doggies.
Being a dover lover, I just love all those cute doggies. I am glad you had a great visit and some good wine. I enjoyed your conversation with the squirrel, very funny. Great photos, Reena! Have a wonderful day.
Squirrels have their own 'tree-mail,' and do seem to keep up with the latest buzz about where the good eats are!
I'm glad you had a good visit! What beautiful pups too!
Haha ~ so many cute critters here today! Even the grumpy squirrel!
They all make me smile!

Your squirrel dialogue made me laugh..and what gorgeous doge!!! Love how you've captured them looking so sweetly at you.
Sounds like you had a great time, it's good to disconnect every once in a while. Love the dogs, it always makes me sad how people can be so cruel.
my heart has melted right down onto my keyboard. they are wonderful and beautiful and I would love to hug/kiss each of them, maybe even that cute squirrel. beautiful shot of the railroad station.
What sweet faces! I'm taking the tiny one home with me :)
You are just on the "go" all the time--good for you!!! What adorable dogs - yes, they all look "huggable". Have a great week. Mickie :)

What a wonderful rescue story. (May her previous owner be properly doused with lifelong bad luck.)
How beautiful that first photo is!
Girlfriend, I love that train station .. and those dogs .. oh my I would have had a ball snapping away ..
Reena what a lovely post of the majestic well loved and lucky puppies. I expect of the 3 Rusty rules the roost!! Little dogs are like that. I was onced owned by a mighty mini doxie who thought he was a Great Dane.
You are right Squirrels stand on the phone cables spreading gossip.
Great post and pics
Hugs Madi and Mom
You are the best. I kid you not. Wonderful pics. Even as I type this comment, a young lady walked by and saw the pic of Sweetie Pie. She said, "cute." Words can't describe how I felt when I saw those doggies. Cheers!!
Dejlige billeder.
Tak for kigget.
Reena, this one has it all; something to make us laugh, something to pull at the heartstrings, and beautiful images. Topaz again? You could be a rep for them.
The dogs, especially Rusty, are so cute. The squirrel story made me laugh, they are quite opinionated little critters.
Hahahaha.... Gotta love Rocky! What I can't believe is that someone tried to drown that poor dog.... so sad, but now he has a happy home so things are good.
sweet dogs!
So glad you had a wonderful time Reena!
The dogs are just precious.
I have 2 "Rustys!"
One is Rosie, and the other is Sammy.
Love the first image here!!
Ooops!!
Got all caught up with Rusty, and neglected to say thank you for sharing with us this week at The Creative Exchange!!
xo.
I felt in love with Rusty! She's so tender... :)
What a nice visit you had! I love the dogs - I miss mine so. You and Rocky have an understanding, though.
what cuties! what adorable guys!
so glad you've had such a wonderful time.
Those little guys are very cute, and i love any post with cats and dogs in them. I remember dial-up all to well, and how much i hated it as well. There is no way that i could ever go back to those days with dial-up. Richard
That squirrel isn't friends with my Liza Bean Bitey (of the Minneapolis Biteys), is he? I swear I overheard her take a call from a squirrel the other day...
Pearl
What beautiful dogs! Glad you are having fun and getting a break from the computer. But you have been missed...
I definitely think the dog issue was discussed while you were gone! heehee! Sounds like a fun weekend! Love your photos...even grumpy Rocky! ♥
I think that Rocky is quite a tyrant.
oh, you did those pooches proud!
(yes, and Rocky, too)
:)

Love the photos. Are they all HDR? V
Your photo's always bring a smile to my face. So tender and sweet in the way you write, with awesome photo's too.
What a wonderful rescue story, seriously, I agree what is wrong with some people when they hurt animals? So terrible, but so happy that Daisy is in a great and loving home now. Huzzah!
Too cute!!
Loving your style of photography as always...you have a unique eye and style of processing which I like :)
All cute, but that Rusty!
He's got some Ewok in him...
All three of those pups are as cute as can be. Lucky for Daisy to find a loving home. How could anyone look in those eyes and want to drown them.
Sounds like a great weekend. What precious puppies!
Love the dogs all of them. So striking and so loving. Wonderful blog again. I really enjoy my visits. here
What a lovely post. It is so good you enjoyed your visit - sounds like a really relaxing time you had.
