I Know!
Not a bird picture, right!
But I just had to throw in this sweet pup. Look at those eyes!
His human was skimming for bait near the pier.
He spied the pelicans
as they went about their preening
and couldn't take his eyes off of them.
I think if his leash didn't tie him to the boat,
he would have jumped in after them.
Probably why his human leashes him INSIDE the boat!
So, as far as bird pictures, well, let's just say since I have been down here,
I have taken 1,345 photos.
That is as of today.
That continuous shooting mode on my camera
is nice
but then one must, SHOULD, go and delete delete delete.
I really don't like doing that exercise.
But I will ... maybe on the plane home.
I always get a bit melancholy when it's time to leave.
I miss observing innocent moments like a father teaching his children to fish...
or a baby's joy running barefoot in the sand
or just the solitude of an evening walk at sunset.
But what I will miss the most
will be
the pelicans
terns
plovers
spoonbills
sandpipers
yellowlegs
sanderlings
oystercatchers
herons
egrets
ibises
comorants
ospreys
wood storks
and the
ever present
gulls.
Yes, I will miss them all!
All the beautiful beautiful birds.

awww. you are in love with them, as your camera so often shows. :)
i love beautiful birds, too and wish we had more of them around here.....xo
Yes, I agree with TexWis. Such a beautiful place, gorgeous birds and a great place to people watch as well! Have a safe trip home and a great weekend, Reena!

yes, magical!
You captured so wonderfully this beautiful place. I really loved the photos of the families. And that dog's face is adorable times 100!
Love the shot of the pier. I love being around water and the funny thing is... I can't swim. But it's pretty to look at.
I've just added Anna Maria Island to my bucket list.
That's the hardest part of leaving a place....you wish time could just standstill for a bit...I love the shots from the beach. Beautiful!
Wish I'd been there! I love to photograph birds. Any birds.
Brenda
Aaaah, maybe through leaving you appreciate it all that more.
keeping shooting. no deleting. i love solitude and that doggie in the light you find so seemingly easily.
Wonderful photos. See you don't always have to have bird photos to impress us. The one with dad and his kids is my favorite.
And we'll miss your photos of them! Love your captures of the puppy and humans, too. Beautiful!
wow that is a lot of shots...but if they are all as gold as these..def keep shooting...smiles...i know you will miss all that but hey you can relive it in the pics right?
Lovely post. We look forward to seeing some of those many pictures you took. :)
I'm sure you'll miss them, but I am so looking forward to your photos.
But you will get to see them again ~
I love seeing them through your lens.
If I know you, you will find many more beautiful birds to fill the gap of the ones you left behind.
I LOVE the colors in these pictures, specially the third, fourth, and fifth. I will probably miss it just as much as you will!!
I get a bit melancholy just looking at your photos! What was the temperature like during your visit?
I would miss them all too. Lovely photos! And the puppy dog is a cutie! Have a great weekend!
I enjoy seeing the birds through your eyes. I will miss them and the the other things.
Such a beautiful place, I hope you will be sharing some of those pictures with us, please.
I would miss the solitude of walks at sunset too Reena ... What a delightful place.
Your people photos are as beautiful as your bird photos! Well, you have a lot of work ahead of you!
But such a wonderful visit you had and so many beautiful things you saw.
Travel safe!

how lucky is it that you will get home and your backyard will be filled with birds .. angry birds that you deserted them for those fair weather Floridian birds .. you better get some good seed and put it out ASAP
Travel safe!
What a lovely post Reena...the beautiful beaches have a way of getting into our souls and taking over. Once you have sand in your toes you'll always have the ocean calling your name.
Hugs Madi and Mom
Beautiful photos! I love that dog's face.
You are in love with a long of ...
birds.
Your camera will feel too tired by then.
I will miss the pelicans too! I have loved your posts- and today's ones are lovely too. Thanks for taking so many pics and posting for us to enjoy. We don't get pelicans in New Zealand except in zoos- awesome to see them in the wild.
Thanks Reena!
these are lovely, serene captures. you need never find an excuse for a dog capture in my book. <3
What a beautiful spot on this planet. The photos are refreshing.
