Life is good today

Nothing is more peaceful to me than that time of day
when the sun begins to say its goodbye.
~sigh~
Sort of like summer saying its goodbye.
Although I hear that some of you are very much looking forward to
those cooler temps!

My photos today were taken
from my deck in Maine over the last week where temps are dropping.

I have enjoyed watching the Osprey family teach their young
to fish, sometimes successfully, and sometimes not.

There is a resident heron who comes by every evening.

And of course,
the chickadees, finches, and cardinals
that have been slowly finding my newly placed feeder.

I also placed a hummingbird feeder out but so far
the little guy just does fly bys.
Maybe next year he will embrace it.

It's been a busy summer here which has left me little time to blog or take photos.
Good news is our construction project is coming to an end here in Maine.
The bad news is that that means I
need to begin some very deep cleaning.
Ugh!

But at least I'll have some nice views to distract me.
Boats in the harbor and birds on my deck.

Mmmm.... I feel a melody pop in my head!
To paraphrase the melody of "Toes" by the Zac Brown Band ...

"Boats in the harbor and birds on my deck,
floors need a cleaning, but oh what the heck,
Life is good today!
Life is good today!"

Have a great weekend, my friends!

Put me down as one of those who will be glad to have cooler weather. The only reason I like Summer is because it's when I get to play fast-pitch softball. Autumn is by far my favorite time of year.

Wonderful photos, by the way. I especially like how you placed them so as to have the cardinal looking up at the chickadee, and somewhat vice-versa.

Yes, I'll be very happy when temps cool off and humidity levels drop. Would love to share a cup of coffee with you on that deck!!

Doesn't get any better than with "boats in the harbor and birds on the deck" as you prove with your photos, Reena! Hope you have a lovely weekend! Enjoy!

They are all lovely images... so relaxing.

Is there any truth everyone is invited to your place for a photo-party?

Post processing is divine. Care to share your secret formula? :)

Don't fret too much about not being able to blog or take photos. I'm sure that what you were doing is just as, if not more important - like spending time with family and close friends. Ospreys?!!!! I can only wish I can see them. City life does not allow for such wonders. Fabulous pics. Have a terrific weekend Reena. Cheers!!

Paintings! Each one of your photos could be a painting! The ospreys have all left their nests around here....lots of platforms built over fields (including the high school football field, which was built more than 15 years ago for the first pair of ospreys)....your color is fabulous. (Curious about the editing on that precious chickadee!)

I love that time of the day too Reena... especially here where we've had such an extended time with heat wave (it's been punishing!). We have spectacular sunsets, which is very stunning and enjoyable, but this year it's more been like; "Oh please sun go down!" But I also just love the peace that comes with that time of the day. For us it's also a time of the day where all the cats "dance" in our olive grove - it's quite magical as if they're playing with something unseen and eact other. Just beautiful to watch.
I love your bird images - you have such an amazing variety of birds (and amazing colors they have!). I do hope your hummingbird settles - I remember your stunning images (and video) from last year.
Thanks for sharing Reena!
Wishing you a great weekend,
Joan

You make me smile. It seems very very busy here as well. Sometimes I don't have the time to get it all done. And I've given up trying to stay up to do it all. Crazy stuff. Love your shots but the Osprey ones are my favorites....well that cardinal and great heron are pretty cool finds as well:) Hope you have a good weekend!!

Oh, I love the bird shots; especially the cardinal looking up at something. Sorry you have so much cleaning to do, but hopefully that will be over soon, too and you can move on.

This post is a joy to read. The photos are lovely, and your words are fun and positive in days of not so positive words surrounding us in an election year. I cannot bear to read the news and I am thankful I don't watch TV. So your post is a blessing.

You certainly have some lovely visitors. I'd love to be witness to Osprey lessons in life. Lovey photos, Reena.

Hi Reena...oh how nice it would be if the critters in Maine would/could help you with your housework like those who helped Cinderella.
Lovely photos.

While oohing and ahhing over all your bird shots, a question came to mind. Where the heck to you really live? PA or ME? Or is the world just one big playground you're fortunate enough to own?
